Grand Opening

"The Bickster" blog is now open for business. I hope to use this blog to have discussions on P2P, content distribution on Internet, and Peer Impact. Below is a summary of the last 4 years of my professional life.

My first adventure into the world of peer-2-peer was with an open source project called FurthurNet(www.furthurnet.com). At the heart of the application was a protocol call PCP(Packet Chain Protocol). The PCP protocol was a set of algorithms that would simultaneously download and upload a file from and to others in what we now call the CCN(Cooperative Communication Network).
After passing FurthurNet on to other community members, Jamie Addessi (one of founders of FurthurNet) and I, with the help of Wurld Media started a new company called LX Systems(www.lxsystems.com). For the last 4 years we've taken the PCP protocol to the next level to solve content distribution problems with the Internet.
The LX engine is now what "powers" the transfers in Peer Impact(www.peerimpact.com). Peer Impact is the first P2P application to get authorization to sell and distribute music from the 4 major record labels. Since the conception of PI I've been fortunate enough to lead a group of really talented developers in creating the PI client. My role at Wurld Media has recently changed, and I am now the Director of Research & Development where I'm trying to explore new trails for the company. Peer Impact has a bright future, and I feel extremely lucky and grateful to be a part something so unique and exciting.
